Historical Home Renovation New Canaan
Ponus Ridge Chapel
Architect: DeStefano & Chamberlain
Designer: Ainsley Design
Builder: Renaissance Partners
Photography: Jane Beiles Photography
Cabinetry: European Woodcraft
Originally built in 1911, this stone chapel had fallen into complete disrepair. Starting with four 20" thick original walls, a new post-and-beam structure was built inside the footprint, adding radiant heat, replicated entry doors, and custom cabinetry that echoes the chapel’s original craftsmanship. The result is a warm, livable space that respects its history while functioning as a guest house and venue for gatherings. Today, it’s enjoyed by the homeowners, local organizations—and can even be rented on Airbnb.
